How many pegs does the basket hold?
Our Regular Peg Basket comfortably holds around 200 standard-sized clothes pegs or 80 HEGS pegs.
Our Large Peg Basket comfortably holds around 250 standard-sized clothes pegs or 100 HEGS pegs.
Which size peg basket should I chose?
Our Regular Peg Basket is a great everyday size for most households, while the Large Peg Basket gives you extra room if you have a bigger household, do larger loads or simply like to keep plenty of pegs on hand.
Not sure? If you tend to have a lot of pegs, we recommend going Large — the extra space is always handy.
Should I choose a long or short handle?
Choose the long handle if you hang your basket directly from a standard clothesline. It allows the basket to sit around shoulder height, keeping your pegs within easy reach and reducing bending and awkward reaching.
The short handle is ideal for hanging from a laundry trolley, clothes airer or lower clothesline, keeping your pegs close at hand while you hang the washing.
Both handles feature the same secure hook designed to keep your basket firmly in place.
Can I leave my peg basket outside?
Yes — our peg baskets are designed to live outdoors year-round. They’re handmade from weather-resistant, UV-stabilised materials selected to withstand Australian conditions.
The open-weave mesh allows rain to drain freely so moisture doesn’t get trapped, helping the basket and your pegs dry quickly after wet weather.
Will it blow off the clothesline?
Our secure handle hook is designed to keep your peg basket firmly attached to the clothesline, even on windy days. Unlike an open hook that simply rests over the line, our hook wraps securely around it, preventing your basket from blowing off and your pegs from ending up across the backyard.
What happens when it rains?
No need to bring it in when it rains. The open-weave mesh allows water to drain straight through rather than collecting in the basket, so moisture doesn’t get trapped and your basket and pegs dry quickly once the rain stops.
How long will my peg basket last?
Our peg baskets are made to last for years, not seasons. They’re guaranteed for 10 years of everyday outdoor use, and we’ve had customers tell us they’re still using peg baskets they bought from us 20 years ago.
Using weather-resistant, UV-stabilised materials helps them withstand years of sun, rain and everyday life on the clothesline.
Will the colour fade in the sun?
The outdoor mesh and thread we use are UV-stabilised to help resist fading and deterioration from prolonged sun exposure. Like any material left outdoors for many years, some gradual colour change may occur over time, but our materials are specifically chosen for long-term outdoor use in Australian conditions.
How do I clean my peg basket?
To keep your peg basket looking its best we recommend these easy cleaning tips:
- Dry Brush: Use a soft bristle brush or dry cloth to remove loose dirt and debris from both sides of the fabric.
- Wash: Mix a solution of mild soap or household detergent with warm water.
- Scrub: Gently sponge or scrub the surface with the soapy solution.
- Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the fabric with clean water to remove all soap residue.
For stubborn stains: clean with non-abrasive household cleaners, diluted rubbing alcohol or diluted bleach - 1:20 concentration. Rinse immediately with clean water and dry thoroughly.

Every It’s In The Bag Designs peg basket is handcrafted in our Melbourne studio. From cutting the mesh to sewing and finishing each basket, they’re made locally with care and attention to detail. We’re also proudly Australian Made & Owned certified.
What are the baskets made from?
Our peg baskets are made from durable, open-weave outdoor mesh with UV-stabilised thread and rust-resistant galvanised wire all sourced from local suppliers. Each material is carefully selected for its ability to withstand long-term outdoor use while keeping the basket lightweight, breathable and quick-drying.
What if something goes wrong with my basket?
Our peg baskets are made for the long haul, but if something goes wrong, please get in touch. Our baskets are guaranteed for 10 years of everyday outdoor use, and we’ll work with you to make it right.
How will my peg basket be posted?
Your peg basket is carefully packed in an unbleached cardboard box sized to fit the basket.
We also use compostable packing tape, keeping our packaging as simple and environmentally conscious as possible.
If your order includes multiple packs of HEGS pegs or other heavier items, we may send your order in two separate parcels to protect your basket and ensure everything arrives safely. If your order is split, you’ll receive tracking details for each parcel.
