Our Story
It started with a better peg basket.
Long before It’s In The Bag Designs became a brand, our peg baskets were being handmade and sold at markets across Victoria. For more than a decade, they found their way into Australian backyards — and today, we still make them to the same design, with the same focus on quality and durability.
In 2018, It’s In The Bag Designs was officially born, taking our peg baskets from the market stall to homes across Australia.
With a background in Environmental Science and a love of nature and sustainable living, founder Bec wanted to create a peg basket that not only looked great, but was functional, weather-resistant and durable. So durable in fact that our peg baskets are guaranteed to last for 10+ years outdoors, and we’ve had customers tell us they’re still using their peg basket they bought from us 20 years ago.
At a time when so many everyday products are designed to be replaced, we believe there’s a better way. Choosing products that are well made and built to last means less waste going to landfill — and our peg baskets are proof that something as simple as a peg basket can make a difference.
That same philosophy now extends to our carefully selected collection of laundry and home care essentials, with a focus on effective, eco-friendly products that make everyday routines a little more considered.
We also keep our packaging as light on the planet as possible, using recyclable and compostable materials to pack your order.
We hope you love using our peg baskets as much as we love making them. With your help, we’re taking small steps to make a big impact.

Every It’s In The Bag Designs peg basket is handcrafted in our Melbourne studio using carefully selected, weather-resistant materials. From cutting the mesh to sewing and finishing each basket, they’re made with the same care and attention to detail that has been at the heart of our peg baskets from the beginning.
We’re also proud to carry the Australian Made & Owned certification — reflecting our commitment to supporting local manufacturing.
